Philly is one of my favorite places on earth. From the legendary shit that goes on, to the incredible dudes I'm so lucky to know there, to the parties, shows, music, sketchy after hours, and killer food (Moms, Pizza Wolves, etc) - It's a place I hold close to my heart that is always fun to be.
The last time I was there on Halloween was at the
Killtime in 2001. There was some street beef, a car chase that ended with a car flipping over outside the venue and almost exploding,
Damage did an
Ink & Dagger cover set, and a dude was dressed up as the
Revelation Records Messageboard (seriously.)
Halloween in 2008 will rule for different reasons, as the doors to
Juanita and Juan's will be opening with a reading by
Eric Paul.
This is an indie book / art / performance space... and sounds like it's going to be an awesome spot to hang out and support. More spaces like this please!
"Juanita and Juan's is a small curated book boutique, gallery and performance space to host our loves and inspirations, kindred spirits and immortal enemies.
We are located on the corner of 11th and Cherry Streets in the Chinatown section of Philadelphia, right near the Chinatown bus stops and other convenient public transportation points, in what was the Megawords Storefront last September."
Doors open on Halloween with a Grand Opening celebration on Friday November 7th with art by
William Boone and a performance by
Howie Pyro and
Kid Congo Powers.
