Tecktonik
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Tecktonik (also known as "tck","vertigo", "Milky Way") is a form of dance based on a blend of hip hop and techno styles.[1] It originated in Paris, France and has grown in popularity through word-of-mouth and video sharing sites. Tecktonik was featured prominently at the 2007 Paris Techno Parade on September 15, 2007 and at Gay Pride events.
Tecktonik is also a registered trademark. This is the first time a dance is protected in this way. Also, the creators of Tecktonik sell official products, such as clothes, CDs, energy drinks, etc.
Tecktonik appeared in France in 2000 in Paris in a nightclub called Metropolis.[2] It borrows heavily from elements of glowsticking, and hip-hop dance moves including popping and locking, vogueing and wacking.
Notable Tecktonik musicians include DJ Dess, RV. B, Deepack, Max B. Grant, Miss Hiroko and lately David Guetta and Dirty South.
Notable Tecktonik dancers include Lecktra, Vavan, Spoke, Boobiz, the members of SMDB, Maestro, Treaxy, Jey-Jey, and many others
Typical dress for Tecktonik dancers include tight-fitting jackets and slim-fit jeans. Dancers also tend to have "futuristic", sometimes even gothik hair cuts and sometimes wear makeup designs such as a star around one eye. It is popular at Gay Pride events in France, notably at the event in Nantes and Lyon in June 2007. Tecktonik style borrows heavily from cyberpunk. The neon colours on shirts are linked to the London Nu Rave fashion scene.
by the way on gigposters.com's forums there was some designer talking about how he just got back from Paris and all the kids were doing this retarded shit.
I'm going to go ahead and assume that the majority of MOCers are from North America and thus unfamiliar with French cinema and dance moves.
Juss sayin.
Yea, alright. Anyway, it's a chance to broaden the outlook.
Well hello, Lithuanian Minister of Culture!
Thank-you for bringing the light of your superior cultural institutions to the darkness that is the US of A. (America, fuck ya!)
( i am only part but i hardly ever meet people around here who are at all, sometimes people say they have never heard of lithunaia.)
this girl can probably pronounce my last name correctly first try. just the thought of that brings a tear to my eye.
ok not really but i don't think my name has ever been pronounced correctly by people outside of the family.
Maybe you mean the kingtats? It looks pretty the same.. It obvious tecktonik came from hiphop tutting, only changed the music and made the moves little different.
Every new dance style borns from an old one. There's one of the hiphop dance technics, it's called tutting or kingtats and tecktonik reminds it a lot. And because a lot of people here haven't heard about tecktonik, and the official version is that it was founded in France, I do the conclusion that what people in US were doing for a decade was tutting, because americans are really good in hiphop.

Because a lot of people in the US haven't heard about tecktonik, and the 'official version' is that it was started in France, I drew the conclusion that what people in US were doing was tutting, because Americans are really good at hip-hop.
