what if i recorded a drum track on audacity and sent it to a bass player, and they sent it to a guitar player, and they sent it to a vocalist?
something simple (hardcore/punk).

i haven't delved into the aspect of creative control yet...

i did this while i lived in korea. my friend andrew who lived in portland would record things and send it to me over email and i would add to it and return it using audacity. it works well if the people actually do it.

I could add something. That is, I have guitars and a bass I could record. I did this once on another message board where we created some punk/blackmetal tune. Could be worth a try.

This should probably be sent as a basic two channel AIFF so we don't have to worry about who has what software. Just import the audio into your software of choice and go for it.

True, although people could send me tracks and I could keep the master project file in Logic, then do a mixdown and post that for the next addition. But yeah two-channel AIFF regardless.

Heh. Funny.

I was trying to do something along the lines of that with people in seattle or portland. But I was actually going to play down there once or twice a month and do the recording seperately.

By the way, weren't you living in pdx before?

In.

Guitar/vocals.

Preferably vocals... Though my choir voice isn't exactly geared towards anything heavy.

Maybe this should be a multi-genre multi-group project?

I warn you, my accordion skillz are not amazing. I took lessons in elementary school and that was that. My guitar skills are much muuuch better. But, anyhow, yes - I'd totally be interested if you can put up with not so amazing mic quality... (n'less of course I get a mic)
