i find the best thing to do is make the noodles first, drain the noodles, then put em back in the hot pot for a lil longer, like a minute or so, then ad the milk cheese and butter and throw in a dash of pepper. i make kick ass mac n cheese
i ad the milk but boil it out a lil bit longer. the noodles take on a bit heavier taste and the cheese is creamier and more full bodied in flavor... (poor gourmet chef)
I don't think there's much of a flavor difference. I think it's good though to do this if you really do have appetite

MIXING THE CHEESE/BUTTER/MILK WITH THE NOODLES MEANS YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO SPEND MORE TIME MIXING AND YOU'LL HAVE A HARDER TIME GETTING THE POWDER TO DISSOLVE.
personally how i mix the kd and the sauce in the same pan. what`s a 30 sec difference....but i also like to add a 1/2 pound of hamburger cooked with red pepper and tomatos in as well....it`s de-lish

IT'S ALL ABOUT NOT HAVING LITTLE BITS OF POWDER ON MY NOODLES
well it all depends now doesn`t it....i`m sure that if you were to mix it well enough that there needn`t be ANY little bits of powder on your noodles...the tomatos do help though with the juices and whatnot.
I thought the package had the directions on it. . .
the point: you missed it. =(

i'd rather just mix that shit up in the pot and make sure that it's hell of smooth and creamy and THEN add the noodles to it.
Personally,
I make the noodles, then put the sauce in a little tupperware cup, add hot milk or hot water and shake vigorously. This ensures the powder is dissolved, and will coat the noodles evenly.

ERICS DOING IT WRONG. THE REST OF US ARE DOING IT RIGHT..
you know what guys i`ve really learned something today...i`ve learned that adding the mix directly to the noodles and adding the rest of the ingredients also to the noodles was the way to go...i already feel that my life has been enriched by this conversation.

the shake is the secret.
brilliant.
That's the way James Bond eats his mac n' cheese. With the sauce shaken, not stirred.
i had a really bad experience with mac n cheese when i was five... it was the last thing i ate before i got this nasty stomach virus so i was puking it for a week. can't eat it anymore. same with pickles.

i had the same problem with steak when i was in high school.
OBVIOUSLY I'VE OVERCOME THAT ISSUE
P.S.:

i'll throw in whatever, always a little pepper, ALWAYS AD SALT TO THE WATER YOU BOIL In, i can not stress how much the light salt IN the noodle really enhances every flavor.
tuna
beef
peppers
mushrooms
real cheese
bacon
shake of grated kraft parm...
whatever you have around.
em, not box is great, but we be talking box, and deluxe is absolutely vomit with all the preserved muck in that jelly cheese sludge
Usually when I'm making the macaroni I'll throw in some:
-beans
-soy dogs cut up into little bits, cut at a 45 degree angle
-Yves Veggie Ground Round
-canned tomatoes
-various sauces, hot sauces, ketchups, or salad dressings that are lying around
-shrimp
i make kraft mac and cheese all the time. . boil the noodles, drain them. ad them back to the pan. add in the margine/butter, mile and cheese power sauce. and mix untill ice and creamy.
