i know we have a few here
marshall rides bikes
chris algo plays soccer
heard gibby hits the gym
enderwiggles plays paintball
dan wade chops wood with his bare hands
jihad fights in a war (which i do respect in truth)
des does the thighmaster till orgasm
i am curious who else here is active
and in terms of active i mean does something physical 3-5 times a week
what is it you do to stay fit and trim and lean and low to the ground
tell me what you do as i sit here fresh from the gym sipping mah teas
I used to bike a lot, but I was really bad at it and crashed all the time and broke my bike about 8 times until I just stopped getting it fixed.
I also used to do yoga, but I stopped and now I'm just starting to try and get into the habit again.
For the past few weeks I've been doing the whole gym thing again. Yesterday it was kind of cool because I didn't feel like my heart was going to explode at the end.
i ride but not really for "fitness" i just really like it. it keeps me in reasonable shape. when i start training more seriously for racing this year it'll turn into something more fit-like
i have a bike here that i never get a chance to ride, but now that it's getting nicer here, i'm gonna start riding more.
i used to lift weights about 3 times a week but i sold all my stuff to move here and haven't gotten around to getting another gym membership.
i think if i can find one over here, i'll just get myself a bullworker.
check it out, my dad used to have one when he was in the coast guard and i used it for a while in college when i didn't have space to work out.
though, there really is no replacement for the benchpress.
I RIDE HORSES SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. IT'S UNDER THE CATEGORY OF HEAVY CARDIO. ALSO VARIOUS FARM CHORES HAVE GOT TO COUNT FOR STRENGTH TRAINING (HAY BALES GET THROWN TWICE A DAY, THOSE ARE 130 LBS EACH)
I ALSO DO SOME CORE STRENGTH BUILDING VIA PILATES/YOGA BUT I DON'T GO TO A TRAINER FOR IT. THERE ARE EXERCISES THAT RIDERS DO THAT RELATES DIRECTLY TO THE MUSCLES YOU USE ON HORSEBACK AND THAT'S WHAT I DO AT HOME. SO ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, I'M WORKING OUT EVERY DAY.
I used to be really hard core about DDR. I would put on ankle weights and short shorts and play for an hour or more a day. I looked ridiculous, but I was in great shape and could kick ass at The Reflex.
Yeah, I do this a couple times a week, run, do yoga, ride my bike all over the place, and go hiking when I can. I went climbing on Sunday.
i love swimming. i dunno why i never thought to look into it more before. its a great full body workout and its fun!
plus i go from 8-9pm when the baby is in bed, daddy is at home, and i can have some mom alone time.
i have been going to the gym several days a week.
i just discovered i like tennis, so i'll probably be doing more of that once it is warm.
also, i go to the ocean pretty much every weekend in the summer.
- Shaolin - i train the most advanced and difficult form in our syllabus.
(which includes an extensive preliminary cardiovascular work out) so about 2 hours 4 times a week / if lazy: 1 hour 6 nights a week.
- sometimes: traditional wkf Okinawan Goju-ru
- Less often: traditional Jujitsu (h8)
- Run - 2 - 5 ks / sometimes I chase weather or lighting phenomenons at ridiculously early or late hours of the day. Often for photos, occasionally for fun.
- Both paid and volunteer gardening in the summer, mainly rare species. This is certainly back-breaking work. For real.
- 5 - 10 mile Hikes on rocky mountainous terrain, or thick lush forests: frequented by many imposing creatures. I do this often in the summer.
- Used to train horses cross country / hunter / jumper / with various other elements. Obv miss this the most, as it is very rewarding and includes the company of splendid highly intelligent animals.

also, i can't think of shaolin without thinking of:

yeah, i've been doing indoors wall climbing and waiting for warm weathers to go rock climbing.
I also really need to try ice climbing. Looks awesome.
I lift weights 3 or 4 times a week. I had backed off a bit in order to start longer distance running, but my knee started bugging me when I got up to 10 miles. I'll give that another shot in a couple weeks if I feel better.
