I wear one, not because I am a child bride or anything, but because I have certain rules I make up and then have to follow. If I'm not "balanced" correctly, I feel wrong. Maybe they just do because if most people are right-handed, if it's on the left, there's a less chance of the ring getting damaged if it's on the weaker, less-used hand.
i'm left handed and therefore more inclined to put rings on my left hand, and on the finger that a ring feels most comfortable on.
i have stolen-borrowed-in that acceptable kind of way a ring from a guy i'm seeing, and i wear it on the left ring finger. its one of those three rings in one, so fun to play with.
to be honest, a lot of girls seem to wear them in order to seem mysterious in some way.
Also, if you wear rings regularly, it's really easy to just forget about it a little,
you want to wear two rings,
or sometimes rings fit differently on different hands, and it fits better on a ring finger...
but then i have a friend who's fiancé died.
so she's not married, but she still wears the ring.
I asked my gf this question and her response was:
"I used to wear one on my left, but that was only because I was going out with that guy that I figured we were basically engaged to anyway. Now that I'm not, my mom yelled at me to stop wearing a ring on my left, so never do anymore"
..when i was learning to read hands and palms i had a book that said that wearing a ring on that finger [even absent-mindedly] can represent a significant other
You people are putting waaaayyyyyyy too much thought into this.
I have one ring, an antique cameo ring, and I wear it on my left ring finger because that's just where it fits and thats where I like it. IT doesn't represent anything for me, conscious or unconscious. I don't wear it to draw attention or ward it off.
It's my "don't holla at me ring".
I work at a mall that also has a recruiters' office in it...so all of these Marines come down and try to hit on me...it usually stops them.
I don't get people who wear rings. It's so uncomfortable and annoying. If I ever get married, it'll be tattooed on so it'll REALLY be forever, or until I decide to laser it off.
my bf bought me an eternity ring that i love, and it fits best on my left ring finger. whenever i wear it to work i get hit on constantly. so, i make it a point to not wear it. and problem solved.
