Wow, that is so sad...they watched their daughter suffer from an illness without getting medical help? Parents need to be a bit more cautious about their childrens health. period.

I believe in God, and I do believe He answers all prayers...
However, He does say no.
So, yeah, you probably shouldn't just assume things will get better when they're all ready pretty bad.
Sad story. :(
God wants us to protect his children, not abandon them. Not sure where they got the idea that leaving their child sick was a Godly act. They are all in my prayers
