Antique Besamim

Fine Rare Silver Fish Spice Container, Probably Russia, ca1900, Judaica

A fine rare silver (NOT silver plated) fish shaped spice (Besamim) container, probably Russia, ca1900, Judaica.
The container is articulated and made in the form of a fish, with separate scales allowing movement of the fish (wagging of the tail).
It has fins on which it can stand on and a hinged head with a pinned hook to allow spices to be inserted.
It is decorated with superb engravings all over.
Marked 84 as seen in the pictures.
This item is an absolute must for any serious antique Judaica collector.
A superb Jewish, Judaica, Hebrew, Israel item.
Highly sought after by collectors.
