not sure how these posts work.. but anyway-
i'm most likely getting my lip pierced soon (not sure if i want just a lip piercing or a monroe)
so i just wanna know the pros/cons, how you take care of it/ how painful it is... all that fun stuff :]

mine didnt hurt at all. i swished with REALLY strong listerine before and i think it kind of made my mouth numb. plus i was pretty stoked to do it so my adrenaline was really up there

so it didnt hurt. i couldnt figure out how to eat though. i kept biting down on it every time i tried to eat and it freaked me out. so i ended up not eating for 24 hours and passed out at the concert i went to the next day.

its pretty easy to take care of. NEVER put jewelry in that is too big for your piercing or it will irritate it and start growing scar tissue. that happened to me when i bought jewelry without even thinking about what size i needed. "its small. it'll fit." no it wont. be careful.

just be smart about the way you clean it. swish your mouth out with water after you eat. brush your teeth (duh). dont use listerine more than twice a day. change out with salt water. you can buy H2Ocean when you get your piercing. thats expensive though and i never bought a second bottle.

good luck!

my friend has pierce her lip tons of times. and i pierce mine once with a small needle i couldnt go thru with the big one. But it hurts more the day after the piercing then it does during the act of the piercing.
and just make sure you clean it alot the first couple weeks.
you do have to be careful tho because the back of lip piercings can wear away the enamal on your teeth but i think thats only in some cases.
but definately ask the person piercing you any questions you have before you get the piercing.

oh yeah and DONT do it yourself. piercing yourself with a needle or other sharp object tears a hole through your skin. getting it done by a professional with a retainer takes out the little piece of skin that you will be putting a ring or stud through and leaves your skin space to heal properly around the piercing.

don't do a monroe! i feel like monroes only look good when really dressed up, whereas lip peircing can be cute even if you're having a bit of a grungy day.

theres a chance that after an extended period of time, you might see scratching/chipping but the damages are usually small... so if you just keep up with that area, a dentist can repair whatever problems you have, no biggie. (but it's another reason not to do a monroe! cuz the peircing is positioned near your top teeth)

She lies, my monroe looks good all the time.
:)

I dont know, do whichever one you feel like getting. See which ever one you think would look better, which one seems to suit your face.

Just make sure to keep it clean, and don't use listerine more than twice a day. Both piercings are easy to heal, unless you're a dumbass.

Your monroe isn't on your teeth, its up by your gums. I've had my monroe for a long, long time, and I've never had any problems with my monroe hitting my teeth, so don't be afraid of a monroe piercing fucking with your teeth.

no piercings really hit any of your teeth.
but it all depends on how you take care of the piercing.

well i got snake bites last week, so its pretty close to a lip peircing. okay well the first thing is, if the girls is professional it will NOT hurt. i felt numb when i got mine done, but there was not freezing, and plus u cant freeze a peircing because the needle will not go through as easily. anyways no, not much pain at all. but you have to be very careful when caring for it afterwards. No kissing, oral sex, smoking, drinking (alcohol) don not use rubbing alcohol, or peroxide to clean it. u need to use anti bacterial soap and gently wazsh it. u only need to wash it twice a day. morning and before you go to bed. make sure ur mouth is always clean. the yellow listerine works the best when cleaning your mouth, but using alcohol based mouth washes are not the best, it tends to kil the healing tissue. but if you cant its ok. sea salt and water is the best for outside and on the inside. if there are crusties (hardened discharge from teh hole) thats ok, its just means that the peircing is healing. and if it itches thats a good sign as well when it is first healing. when this happens after its healed its not good. umm, dont touch it unless you are cleaning it. and if you have to touch it, make sure your hands are clean. i know i know this gets annoying but i cannot stress enough the fact your hands MUST BE CLEAN. or the peircing can get easily infected and trust me, its not a good feeling. umm if you use dragon mist or witch hazel that can help reduse the redness and the soreness temperarily. and if you want take vitamin b and c, and zinc to speed up the healing process. i really hope this helps.

I used a simple salt/warm water solution. A pinch of salt in a glass of warm water. A cotton bud for swabbing round it. Just don't put too much salt in, or you could burn your skin.
Pro - There's not really a point to a lip piercing, unless you just want it.
Con - The disc on the inside may chip the front of your bottom teeth...and if you get into the habit of chewing on the bar, and you go over a speed bump, chipping may occur.

okok. stop woth the labelling. you have no clue what "scene" or 'emo" is. if you knew what scene was, you wouldnt be saying snakebites are scene. so just lay off. kthanx.

and havent we made it clear that i was talking about snakebites as a piercing DONE WITH A NEEDLE! people just let it go. a girl just wanted to know how she would care for a lip piercing or a monroe and you drag on what i say to this extreme.
