I've never ridden with apes myself, but I've had alot of people tell me that it is actually a really comfortable ride if you have something the right height for your arm length and riding position.
(of course that could just be trying to justify it b/c they are all the rage in SoCal)

I have no garage, very few tools, and extremely limited knowledge of bikes, so unfortunately I will have to rely on friends and try to find a decent shop that won't just fleece me when I want to do some thing.
For now, I think just changing out the seat is something I can handle myself, and I'll buy some bars and have a shop put those on.
then I'll just start figuring out what excess crap I can pull off and still have it run.
I do need to start learning more about shovels...maintenance, etc. so if you can point me in the right direction, or if you know where I can get a manual for cheap I would be in your debt.
