Do you, or your family or friends, decorate their home so that it looks like it stepped out of a catalogue. Without any sort of personal mementos unless they fit perfectly i with your 'theme'? I was helping a friend look for gifts to take home from Florida and he said his parents and all his friends have houses that fit some sort of theme and if it didnt fit the theme they didnt put in in their home.
I just found that really odd, boring, and more odd. I understand not housing a museum, bu to not have any trinkets or bits of art from a trip? Unless he or his family visits Italy they will apparently never have any real souvenirs in their house
I was like 'oh these fancy glass/crystal flamingos will be nice. its florida and still nice and elgent looking' and he goes 'where would they put something like that?" and in my head it made sense-you put in in a curio or some shelf that houses stuff like that and he goes 'it wont match their theme'
shelf of unicorns, plates with childs handprint, asian fan
shelf of nightmare before xmas coffe mugs, and assorted empty bottles
target jackolantern bucket filled with bottle caps
my house is like a bungalow from an artists colony, we have weird things hanging form the walls, like mirrors with shells all over them, and old paintings of noah's ark.
my room is a tribute to japanese woodblock and the 1950's travel craze.
the mat outside our door says "go away!" for chrissakes!
Does that seem like a fucking catalogue?
