don't post racist slurs or jokes. no tolerance. be racist on your own, in your cabin in the woods.

Someone in the House of Lords said a really racist slur in Parliament here.
Big big mistake.
He used an old expression.

No, not in fear of being racist.
I personally think the racism thing has gone way too far.
Pupils at my sisters primary school have been told they can't use the word 'vinegar' because if you take away the 'vi' its a racial slur.
Which is ridiculous.

also, in my time, i've used the n word to black friends and they didn't have a problem b/c it was casually used and not out of bigotry or hatred.

not to say that it isn't used for these reasons and i wouldn't say it around black people that didn't know me or weren't comfortable with the word.

dude, race does not exist anyway ... racism is just a way to cover up the fact that capitalism requires an underclass. and this whole thing where people are bent out of shape about racist language is just a way to justify people feeling good about themselves while the profit off an inherently bad system. if the biggest part of racism were the language, it would not even be bad, but the real problem is structural discrimination ... it lays at a much deeper cultural level.


but i have always respected the rules and a warning would suffice, had i gotten one.

this quote seems like a stab at rural people. how is that different than racism, since rural people also tend to be poor, uneducated and to be called such indexes those things, just like racist language does?

but: slurs are slurs and whatever reason there you have for using it, it doesn't belong here.

i think banning people is counterproductive and would rather not ban anyone. please don't force our hands

i don't think we're communicating well here.

i agree with you, the pc police are insane but in terms of our messageboard here, racial slurs despite context or intent, cannot be allowed.

and vinegar is not one of them

I was just showing how ridiculous its becoming.
I'm not for racism, I think its quite disgusting.
But human rights are very picky about things like this.
Another example, really random of 'racism' a Muslim girl applied for a job at a hairdressers, but was turned down because she wouldn't show her hair. The manager only said that the employees have they're head uncovered to give clients ideas, and then the Muslim girl accused her of racism, which the manager wasn't being.

i heard that too and had the manager said "i will not hire you you [racial slur]" and posted it on moc, we would've had a problem with it

In the context of this message board community, no it doesn't, but in reality it does, or it should. As disgusting as listening to cro-magnon hill folk ramble on about how they lost their job due to <insert ethnic group here> or blaming <insert plural racist epithet here> for the increase of crime in their area is, when we let anyone determine for all of society what can and cannot be said, it's a matter of time before we get arrested for denouncing god or criticizing the president.

As far as MOC goes though, when you sign up you opt into a social policy and conduct guidelines. Sometimes they're fuzzy, vague and selectively enforced, but that's the nature of the beast. Private communities are allowed to censor themselves.
