EAT LESS, MOVE MORE.

work on that a bit harder and there you go.
yeah i'm a smart ass.

you can always do a 10 day "master cleanse" fast to clean out your system and shrink your stomach. that'll make you lose a few pounds and then when you start eating again you'll eat less. but for some reason the thought of a liquid diet for 10 days really upsets people. i find it entertaining. oh well.

walking and increasing your water intake will work wonders too.
otherwise forget about it, enjoy life as it is.

Oh right, forgot about the bum ticker....

In that case, I suggest doing the already mentioned and drinking TONS of water.

Also- This sounds kind of gross, but it really works....Get some Metamucil, and drink it about 20 mins before each meal..It fills you up

eat small many times throughout the day. also instead of one marathon session of cardio (hehehe) each day, do something several times throughout the day.

get a doctor to prescribe you topamax/topiramate. i am not joking. it's for migraines and bipolar mania. so do what you have to. yeah, shady. other drugs with a less dramatic weight-loss side effect are wellbutrin (zyban/budeperion), and the whole adderall and stimulant family but i have never taken that last group. this paragraph is weird and i am not recommending any of this, just sayin'. wouldn't wish pharmaceutical treatment for mania or the mania itself on anybody. but the strung-out physique looks damn good in sample sizes, yaknow.

aside from the pharmaceuticals, low-intensity weight-bearing exercise and small meals. um boring. oh yeah and eat protein.

i am currently only eating 800 - 1,000 calories a day. this doesn't *necessarily* mean eating less, but def means eating less crap. you just have to count the calories of everything and pay attention to the relative serving sizes. it's a pain in the ass but if you're determined enough after about a week or so you're used to it.

personally i replace two meals with a soy milk/protein powder/frozen blueberry smoothie that i make myself (200 calories each shake), which allows for a nice 600 calorie lunch (turkey and vegetable wrap and a yogurt for example)

oh, and you HAVE to quit drinking alcohol and NO diet soda. :/ i only drink water. you will lose 20 lbs in a month, no problem.

um, yeah. my response was tongue-in-cheek and a reflection on a bad experience in the hands of the health care system in this country when i am already pretty skinny and managed to get fairly unhealthy. and brad you are eating a starvation diet. 2-3 pounds a week is healthy weight loss. that is some survivor-type shit right there. haha

i take yoga for http://1.5 hours every sunday, try to eat under 1500 calories every day, drink at least 8 cups of water a day, and try to do yoga/cardio/strength training at least two more times a week.

i suppose it could be considered that - but I'm not pulling any Karen Carpenter shit. I'm still getting my essential vitaminz and minzerals and i have a ton more energy and i'm not having hunger pangs. (the protein powder is Juice Plus+ Complete - hella expensive but packed with all sorts of good for you things!)

and yes i agree 2-3 lbs a week is healthy weight loss. however we're talking about an upcoming wedding for one person, and newly single and hoping to get laid again by fall for another. drastic measure must be taken.

My wedding isn't until May. I would rather do it slow and steady, as it would be easier to keep off.

i know :( this is partly true. however i'm not trolling this time! i have new rules:
- no dating / being interested in anyone outside of a 25 mile radius
- 26 years old or older only
- gainfully employed, preferably with an actual career.

this pretty much eliminates everyone on moc. HELLO OKCUPID!

i have also seemed to turn a corner in age where even my dog doesn't help to seal a deal with the 19 year old girls that spend their time walking up and down my street to and fro the public pool in their bakinis all day.

re my dog: "OMG he's sooooo cuuuueeeeettt! what's his name?!"
re me: fleshy and not nearly into Three 6 Mafia as much as i could be.

start replacing snacks with salads, likewise with all meals after 10pm.

Excercise. Cardio in short sessions, don't do anything long and crazy or you won't stick with it.

Stop drinking sodas, or switch to diet.

Cut your salt intake way down

Diet sodas are bullshit.
i don't know anybody who drinks them who isn't fat as hell.
chemicals blow you up like a fuckin balloon.

cut the sugar.
cut the refined carbs. carbs in general are ok, your body needs them to survive. HOWEVER, when you eat american carbs (white flour, completely refined/broken down stuff) it hits your digestive system effectively already digested, so it all hits your bloodstream (as sugar) at one time. You get a sugar rush, which makes your body think "oh, sweet, we have lots of food now, i'd better store it for tougher times" and stores it as fat. Then you crash because it all runs out, you feel like shit, get a headache, whatever and have to eat more.

if you eat unrefined carbs (brown rice, whole wheat, shit that's got the protein and fiber still in it) your body digests it slowly, so it trickles into your bloodstream and gives you long-lasting energy, which actually makes you eat less.

dairy products and shellfish/shrimp are some of the worst offenders. Everybody knows the whole "lean meat" phenom but if you can replace some meat with beans, that can help a lot. Whenever you combine a grain (rice, pasta, couscous, whatever) and a legume (beans, lentils) you get a complete protein, with all the amino acids your body needs (traditionally provided by meat) so you can get a filling sustaining meal that's super high in protein, nutrients and fiber and low in fat. Plus, rice and beans is super satisfying.

You must eat breakfast. If you don't eat in the morning, your metabolism doesn't really get started and you don't burn shit off.
The more water you drink, the better.
The whole stairs-instead-of-elevator and such is obvious.

So a good breakfast (yogurt and granola with nuts but NOT a ton of sugar, some granola should be peddled like frosty flakes, seriously) that will hold you through, a good salad with hummus or beans or nuts or chicken for lunch and then something satisfying for an EARLY (before seven) dinner like ricenbeans should help.

Usually, the more you cook for yourself, the easier it'll be. Although microwave rice, can beans, chicken and salad makings aren't that hard.
Bought food be full'o'shit.

yessum.

also, i assumed you wanted the healthy version, not the anorexia nervosa version.

because that shit will screw you up for life.

If you screw around with your metabolism and do crazy restrictions of any food group, you're just setting yourself up for trouble and probably won't lose much weight.

i agree with gnome, but i drink diet soda when i want something sweet. like once every few weeks. and i don't understand wtf is wrong with shellfish. that is an almost perfect food. so much protein, all the good fats, lowers bad cholesteral and triglycerides, high satiety index, no carbs, hmmm. some people are allergic to it i guess.

i have a personal trainer's cert from the ACE (yeah i know, i don't use it anymore) and all the other nutrition advice sho gave is pretty much right out of their dorky little brochures. brad should make a new brochure for them though. hahaha i think it would go over well.

if i lived closer to you i would train you. i am a good trainer and i have really good music for workouts.

Eat good things. Things your great grandmother would recognize as food. Never eat anything that has a health claim and also less things that have a nutritional label. The best foods don't have to tell you that they're healthy, they just are. Eat seasonal. Cook your own food as much as possible. Eat more leafy things. Eat meat that the animal had a good diet, grass fed beef for example.

Eat six small meals a day rather than three bigger meals.
Make sure you get a good amount of lean protein (chicken, salmon, tuna)
Do both cardio AND resistance/weight training. Focus on different body groups different days. don't just work out everything all at once. A personal trainer would be helpful in designing the right weekly workout for you. My workout consists of chest, shoulders, and triceps one day. Back and biceps one day. And legs one day. With cardio in between.
Take green tea extract. It will boost your metabolism.
Take hoodia if you're hungry or tempted to snack all the time. It is an appetite suppressant.

MEH ON ALL THE SUPPLEMENTS AND SHIT PEOPLE ARE GARGLING ABOUT UNLESS IT'S GREEN TEA.
TAKE THE CREAMER OUT OF THE COFFEE. TAKE THE SODA OUT OF YOUR LUNCH. REFUSE ALL BREAD -- UNLESS YOU'RE LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE SOME PRESERVATIVE-FREE WHOLE GRAIN HAPPINESS AVAILABLE. EAT PROTEIN. WHO WAS THAT IDIOT THAT TOLD YOU TO QUIT EATING MEAT? THEY'RE AN IDIOT. YOU NEED PROTEIN.
QUIT EATING POTATOES. BASICALLY, ANYTHING WHITE (BESIDES MILK, AND I ONLY DRINK THAT FOR CALCIUM) STAYS OUT OF MY DIET.
EAT CANDIES AND SO FORTH SPARINGLY.
IF YOU MANAGE TO GO THREE DAYS EATING SMALL PORTION SIZES, YOUR STOMACH WILL SHRINK AND YOU WILL FEEL MORE FULL. SO THIS WATER LOADING THING? ONLY TEMPORARILY EFFECTIVE AND YOU'LL GO THROUGH A LOT MORE TOILET PAPER THAN YOU SHOULD.
STICK TO SMALL PORTIONS, DON'T DRINK ALCOHOL, SODA OR ANYTHING IN YOUR COFFEE, AND YOU WILL DO ALRIGHT.
I EAT ANYTHING THAT I WANT -- I JUST EAT A LOT LESS OF IT THAN NORMAL PEOPLE.

Also, don't go overboard with dieting or fasting. I found that cheating in moderation on weekends still kept me sane without dramatically hindering my progress.
