I've been looking and there really isn't anything cheap :( Damn you people and your high rental rates! Credit crunch my bum!

Also, I want to stay in an apartment that is about $35,000 a month rental :(

your budy is an idiot if an Irish citizen finds an apt before he does.

Also, can you let me know if you find an apartment before my "budy" so I can make sure he knows he's an idiot?

try going through Kinvara Realty - the buildings they own are nice (they own a few pubs too) and they are irish friendly - if the name didn't give that away.

the only way you are going to get "cheap" is if you have a bunch of flatmates and you split the rent. i lived in this building (above an authentic irish bar) for a number of years with two roommates. we paid $500 USD each.

yes, my rent is 800 a month too....for three bedrooms, a two car garage and huge backyard where my dogs have ultimate fighting matches in the mud.

we just have a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. it's nice and big, but i can't wait till we can find a house with a yard so my dog can run around!

unless absolutely forced, i will never live in an apartment again. aaaand after years of building my credit it is finally good enough to get a good rate on a mortgage so pretty soon when we decide where we want to end up for an extended period of time i will buy my first house. SO EXCITED.

oh, and i mostly don't want to live in an apartment because the dogs are way too big and the kiddo needs a yard as well to explore/put in a "clubhouse"/play without me having to drive to a park and stand watch like an eagle.

Rent ranges from $400 for a shithole apartment in a building populated almost exclusively by rapists, to $1800 for a nice three-room in Manchester.

Oh, that was no type. This thing was like, made of gold or something :( I fell in love with it!

See, we have a few friends of the family that may be able to help me get a job in an Irish bar or similar, which works fine with me.

I've been asking a few people about going to Boston, 1 or 2 of them seem really up for it.

it's pretty standard for boston. just look outside of downtown. most irish friendly is South Boston and Brighton. if you just want cheap + nightlife go to Allston. it's college kid / punk central. (and right next to brighton)

I have been looking at Allston quite a lot actually. It seems nice.
And I have a Northern Irish accent, which means I'm more understandable than most Irish. People can actually make out what I'm saying.

God damn I love Boston :(
