hume's law is that you can't get an ought from an is. the idea is that you can't get a "should" statement, a value statement, from a factual description of the world.
so all our values and shoulds etc have to come from sentiment

I think maybe you just hate philosophy, meaning that you might hate contemplating the question of what the human mind can fully comprehend and think about the universe. the beauty of the human mind is the wonderful saving grace that makes life wondrous every day and always worth living and all that stuff..
