so i just left the college bookstore where i was picking up my biology lab book and a girl in line whips around and starts talking to me. she asks if i'm in her bio class and i have to ask which one since it is my major i'm in a few. she replies 105, which is my environmental bio class. i don't recognize her because we've only been to one class and i sat in the front. anyway, she says she knows she recognizes me because i have "cool tattoos" and starts trying to chat me up. i do not want to talk to this girl. the only way i could possibly describe her is "scene" like the kids in the "why are these people not on moc thread", you know, the crazy hair, too tight jeans, tank top and a big frilly scarf (its like 100 degrees...why you wearin' a scarf you fool?), crazy piercings like the bridge of her nose....i think you get it.

she wants to sit next to me in class.
she sounds stupid.
how do you let someone down gently without letting them know you just don't want to be associated with them?
i guess i'm not a people person.

also, in my regular biology class, i just had to be lab partners with a girl who could not figure out 12 minus 20 squared divided by 20.
she also had to use a calculator to add something like 12.5 and 17.25.

things are looking pretty grim.....

i have the same problem of attracting people to me that i would really rather not know. i'm not saying i am super amazing or anything just that crazy people are often drawn to me. maybe not scene kids but homeless people, crazy bag ladies etc. it freaks me out cause i am kind of shy and anti social.

i say you sit next to her the first day and then you start talking to yourself like you are hearing voices. then you start drawing pictures of armageddon and tell her that it's coming and ask her if she is prepared. then you bring out a barbie and start brushing it's hair during class. hopefully by that point she will have switched seats.

Um. first of all ditto what Huey Lewis said. Maybe you have an easy life so these sort of things are easy to obsess about and get upset by.
I suggest if you want to turn her off, be yourself.

the frilly scarf and piercings are only body ornamentation, just like your tattoos. they are ways that people identify potential peers and lovers in their age-group. sure they aren't "functional" but they serve a purpose because they allow us to identify each other in a crowd and promote our aesthetics and social values. i just think she is trying to do that. she thinks you are cool.

please let her sit at the big-kids' table during lunch period?

yeah, and stuff like too-tight jeans and out-there facial jewelry are associated with immaturity because people "grow out" of them with age, once they are more secure with their identity, have stable sex relationships and offspring, a large circle of friends, and lots of property. ETC.

JESUS I MUST BE OVULATING. I FEEL SO GENEROUS AND LOVING. ANYONE WANT TO SCREW?

i tried it out. she's kind of.......i don't know. not snobbish but...there's just a hint of attitude that i did not care for so much. she had one of her friends also sit next to me and they talked during lecture. to me this is just rude.

i still don't understand the scarf. it is freaking hot here.

she was badmouthing the bookstore clerk because she prepaid for a book that had to be special ordered and then some problems arose. when the book is ordered and they can get a used one for cheaper, they will. this happened to this girl but for some reason the bookstore could not refund just the 30 dollars difference and they have to refund the entire amount you paid and then re-ring the book up. because it was paid for with a credit card, the refund had to go back on the card and won't post for a couple of days. so the girl did the refund thing and then tried to buy the book and her credit card kept getting declined....not exactly the cashiers fault, she was just doing her job.

ew. i hate when people do that. plus, i guess i'm biased because a few of my friends work in college bookstores.
tell her you can't sit next to her because you're worried that god-awful stench of hers will rub off on you.

don't talk to her, appear as dull as possible.
If she wont go away just start recommending her terrible music on the fly.
when she asks you about music say you listen to mostly radio stuff like tupac and sublime.
she'll hate you for it.
