arent these made for you do everything YOURSELF?

10 minutes after i get to the self checkout, here comes a kid who starts to bag my items....and i guess im fine with it at first,

when i get home, im missing the loaf a bread, a veggie peeler, and a pound of cheese...and i know i didnt leave anything under the carriage and i took all my fucking bags off the conveyor....

i hate it when people at the self checkout thing comment on your items. like the overseer cashier dude. "oh that cereal's really good"

last time i was in the self-checkout i needed Cashier Assistance because i wanted a six pack of beer...and that's ALL i needed. the helpful cashier assistant motherfucker was checking out some old lady and chatting her up, oblivious to my dire need for beer.

GRANDMA IT'S CALLED SELF FUCKING CHECKOUT

i also do not enjoy the whole YOU HAVE REMOVED SOMETHING FROM THE BAGGING AREA, PLEASE PLACE ITEM BACK IN THE BAGGING AREA....no, i moved it because the bag was full, so shut the fuck up and ring up my next item already.

self checkouts are a great way to pay for only a portion of the items in your cart.

The last time I tried to use one it wouldn't ring up the two bottles of vitamins I was trying to buy, so I just abandoned them at the scanner. If I develop osteoporosis at least I now have a scapegoat.

you scan the item. they go down a conveyor, which is walled off by glass and weight sensitive so as to be unable to steal, and then they come out at the end. you have to walk down to the end and bag them. most of the time they don't do it for you. occasionally they will try.

at every place here:

its a place for you to put yr hand-basket-thing//a scanner//bags all within like 5 feet

so you place yr stuff down, scan it, then place it in bags. and there is a whole bunch of them and you are left alone. and there is one person monitoring everything in case yr getting alcohol.

I work as a cashier for big y.
Thankfully, no self checkouts, they are a pain in the ass and always mess up.
The only good part is that if you do work somewhere that has them, it is the easy job in the entire world to just sit there and watch them.

exactly...i was at a stop'n'shop...they dont have those glass walls or weight sensitivity.....yet.

and i think the employees here are becoming aggressive baggers for fear of losing their jobs to these self-checkout joints.....

exactly...i was at a stop'n'shop...they dont have those glass walls and im not sure about weight sensitivity...yet

Hate them. Especially the ones at Walmart. [Mind you, I live in a town of 19,463 people, so Walmart is about it.]
The lady's voice that talks to you is a bitch. Frealz.
As I'm entering my money, after every dollar/quarter/etc I put in,
she shouts loudly "PLEASE INSERT CASH OR SELECT PAYMENT TYPE."

I worked at a grocery store and had to monitor the self-checkouts and I never helped bag people's stuff, well, except for old people

i always use self checkout even if theres a line to avoid confronting real life people.

last time i was at the grocery store the self checkout lines were longer than the regular ones. fuck that. i still bagged my own groceries at the regular check out... and was out before the some of the people in the do it yourself lanes.

Self check outs need to be reserved for people who fucking know how to use them. I watched someone confused for like ten minutes as to where their change was supposed to come out even though it was clearly marked in large letters.

Man, Aldi's (sp?) they make you pay for your bags & you have to bag the stuff yourself. Their supposed to have boxes in case you don't wanna buy bags, but they never have boxes. The cashiers get paid like $11 per hour.. which is good for a cashier.. I got paid $6.95 as a cashier and then $5.25 as a bagger. (before min wage went up) but not only do they not bag your shit but they get to sit. I wanna work there!

I hate self service check-outs. I ALWAYS have an issue with it. "please wait for assistance" it winds up taking longer then going through the regular check out.
