in regards to removal.

I have always kept mine pretty much as is, but I have been thinking about removal for recreational purposes lately. Any suggestions, anecdotes, and warnings would be greatly appreciated.

I am really averse to shaving, but I don't think I can afford going out to a reputable place and having them waxed either.

be careful! if you choose to shave, trim it up so it's not as tough to remove with a razor...start by shaving small patches and see how your skin reacts. i have extremely sensitive skin and had to learn the hard way when it came to removing the hair down there, shave with the hair growth, not against it, so you don't get razor burn. i always put on baby cream afterwards to keep it soft.
i had a really bad experience earlier in the summer from using nair down there, i had a very bad, itchy, chemical burn...so i would advise to advoid diplotories.

shaving is fast, but waxing lasts longer. dipilatories burn.. a lot.

Yeah, don't use a cream depilatory (ie nair). I, too, found that out the hard way.

Don't use Nair. I know way too many people who have terrible burn stories from it.

At the very least, clipper the fuzz into shape.

Or shapes, if you're into that.

also, you have to be a brave, brave soul to wax that yourself. i highly recommend just paying to get it done. it really is not too expensive...

I have pretty sensitive skin which is why I have never done anything special down there, but I am curious about changing things up a little. I think waxing is my best option because there is no way I would keep up with shaving. But I am still wary.

i would say 40-60 depending on where you go. but it lasts SO LONG. like 6 weeks. and after you have it done a few times, shaving is a breeze because most of the hairs just give up or come back in baby fine.

shaving tipz: hot hot shower for a few minutes (no longer), exfoliate, baby oil, really freakin sharp razor, direction of hair growth, don't over-shave (a few passes and that's it...more will irritate).

also, YEAH DUH nair is going to burn. but there are other depilatories that are made for this kind of thing. look in other types of stores, nawmean? like lingerie stores. i have THE MOST SENSITIVE SKIN ever invented and these didn't bother me.

No worries here. My guy is really awesome and has even gone out of his way to sing the praises of my natural bush. I am just thinking it might be an interesting change somewhere down the line.

i'm sure i could find $60-100 places here, i mean it's CHICAGO, but why would you spend that much, if there's a BEAUTY salon here that pays attention to your cooch and costs half the price?

Martha, I just use liberal amounts of shaving cream (skintimite ftw) and I shave against the grain to get it all smooth.

I would advise to trim with scissors first or even better an electric shaver to trim em all down first.

Eric advises to go back over with the grain to avoid ingrown hairs but I would use caution cos its sensitive down thar. Don't want to over shave.

i use baby oil GEL becasue it's thicker than the oil (duh), and wont irritate my little mons like shaving cream. i've heard of some people using hair conditioner too, but be careful with the real scented stuff if you decide to use that. dry completely afterwards and cocobutter works to keep it smooth.

wanna come get a wax with me sometimes? i have only done it a handful of times but it is my goal of the year to deal with it regularly. i go to this amazing place that is just for waxing, thus the name max wax.
i get what they call the playboy. its looks natural but well dealt with on top, like a nice triangle and then all the hair down below is gone.
i believe in looking somewhat natural because if a dude wants me to have no hair down there he wants a little girl's vagina in my opinion.

COME WITH ME SERIOUSLY! i won't watch you or be in the same room but we can talk through the rooms and then get frozen yogurt or whatever to ease the pain.

also, i have both shaved and waxed and OMFG waxing makes it so much smoother and nicer and its just generally less of a pain in the ass. i suggest you take some ibprofin like a half hour before your waxing too cause the first times are the worst and its just better to ease the pain, but it is over shortly and its not that bad.

I have recently started shaving both ways.

I use Alba shave cream. I shave with the grain the first time around.

I then lather up and do a whole new shave against the grain. I then rinse really well with warm water til I feel really clean. I then splash around with really cold water to close the pores. Doing this avoids bumps as best as possible.

As for a girl, I'd much rather deal with a a full bush or a decent trim than a bumpy snatch. However, if a girl can get away with being bald without problems then go for it. I think it depends on your skin and hair growth as to what you can do.

i'm always bare down there except when i'm growing it in enough to get it waxed again. i love that every time i wax the hair comes in finer and finer.
