wait a second...

you did a MASTERS program in philosophy?
or was it a terminal masters?

I mean, philosophy is broad, look at philosophygourmet for decent ratings. and go to schools where the people who are "on top" of whatever field you are into, are teaching.

NYC / metropolitan area has a lot of #1 programs in the world.

*all of which are analytical, unless you wanted to study Maimonides, for obvious reasons!*

yeah, i missed all the application deadlines in the states, so i did a masters in the UK. it's a terminal masters in as much as i'd have to reapply to the phd program, but they don't give ANY financial aid, so i'd be fucked. again. so it's back to america.

i'm looking for a continental-based program, somewhere where i can continue my research on nihilist marxism.

ouch.

re: applying to schools in USA, you'd have to get started like, right now, for fall 09. the programs you'd want to get into are extremely competitive (e.g. columbia, nyu, etc., where they pay fully for your tuition for at least 5 years, and give you money for rent/expenses)

I guess you'd be okay with recommendations, but [so i've heard] recommendations/personal statement is how you get into these programs.

as for having a masters, I don't know if many schools will really care. actually, they may hold it against you.

i don't think they'll hold the masters against me, most places require you to have it. but yeah, it's UNGODLY competitive. like 5 spots for 140 applicants. son of a bitch.

never heard of that. places like harvard want you from start to finish.

and, if you want an actual job, you might have to switch over to john rawls and head over to sweden. but you know more about that than I do.
