I just yelled at the kids outside my window to shut up because I'm trying to watch tv. The window is open, I could have shut it, but it was more fun to yell at the children.

Peeking through the blinds at the little gangster kids outside and wondering if I saw one of them on America's Most Wanted.

Embarrassingly enough, it's a true story.

Also glaring at kids who pull up next to me at a stoplight with their music bumping, but looking quickly away so I don't make eye contact.
Wanting my neighbors to turn off the music and quit drinking/screaming at 10 p.m. so I can get a full 8 hours, and calling the Sheriffs when they don't.
Watching PBS and listening to NPR.

LOL I hate making eye contact with people who II know are younger than I am (in a better car) at a red light.
NPR is set to channel 1 on my radio in the car lol. Frontline docs? Love em'!

I also noticed I complain about heartburn more often now.

Turning on the radio and going "WTF is this MUSIC?" and then:
Tuning to the classic rock station and hearing Nirvana

Watching stock prices and actually knowing how they affect my 401k.

I keep catching myself shaking my fist at neighborhood kids skateboarding/bike riding and going "FUCKING KIDS!" and then realizing that I'm the asshole that I used to hate.

That'll still be okay if I still like shit before Billboard gets at it. And THAT's why I come to MOC and listen to NPR's "Sound Opinions."

Yes that as well. Also, I download about 8 podcasts from BBC, a few of which are musical.

Just never listen to payola and billboard influenced bullshit and you're golden.

it's really frustrating. I am even annoyed by people's (martha's) stories of "oh yeah it's 12:30am but I'm just gonna go have a few drinks at that party just to say hi"

really?

Oh oh!

Even more annoyed by;

"I left at 2am- but really considering it was really early because y'know, last call is 4am and I left when there were a ton of people still there."

le sigh.

Sometimes, I forget I'm married and then when someone addresses me as Mrs. I feel old. Or if I catch myself off guard talking to a stranger about "my husband" and I suddenly realize I'm seriously married... and old.
Other than this I don't feel too old very often. But I totally get the after 9 p.m. thing. I hate turning down these invites to things after 8 or so. I'm generally in my jams as soon as possible.

Also, I had to explain the phrases "eat my shorts" and "I've fallen and I can't get up" to my 15 year old brother.

I think I'm older than pretty much all of you, but I rarely feel old. Mostly I feel like I should probably act more like an adult at this age than I actually do.

On the other hand, I did have an "oh my god I'm so pathetically out of shape" moment trying to run in the park the other day, but that was b/c there were a great many people running in a group, warming up for a marathon I think, and they all seemed to be in their 50s or 60s, and they were all in much better shape than I am.

Also: trying to re-learn songs that I haven't played on the guitar in, like, 14 years...fuck, I am old.

Both of crls's WAH-I'M-OLD quotes were loosely inspired by me if you didn't guess. That said, I realized this weekend how much I really just like staying in so as to sit on a nice couch enjoying the air conditioning and cable tv all night.
