I agree with half of what you said.

While the world will end and take human accoplishements with it, that must also mean that the world, and life in general, is a fleeting moment in the grand scheme of things and should be taken full advantadge of, making it very worth it

I seriously don't see a difference outside of the instruments used in goth music and some of the clothing. Seriously, it's all whiny trite self-righteous bullshit and I hate it.

I hate the way some people take one look at you, or anyone and instantly label them.... you can be anything you want to be. Someone called me an emo theother day, so i asked what makes me emo, the just said "duh... you look like one" its getting a little pathetic.... im not really fussed anymore about it...

I hate people who TRY so freaking hard to be anything. Also, the whole "im emo wah" or the whole "XXXCORE" or the whole "I'M SO GOTH" thing PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF. GET A FUCKING LIFE AND LIVE IT, INSTEAD OF BEING A WHINY BITCH ON MYSPACE ALL THE TIME!!!

They give me diarrhea. What the hell's wrong with them? They always look pale, weak and sickly. Nothing a reality check can't fix. But no, they choose to dress up like french poets and walk around like vampires. Why don't you losers get a life and quit pretending like you're depressed? Maybe then people will stop treating you like the dipshits that you are, and you'll gain some respect. You know, I've done my homework. I've probably checked out over 50 pages by people who consider themselves "gothic." I've read over 20 definitions, and none of them were consistent. They're quick to label themselves as gothics, but they can't even pick a definition and stick with it. Instead, they allow people like myself to stereotype them by aesthetics. The bottom line is, that there probably isn't a universally accepted definition of a gothic because the entire movement or lifestyle (or lack thereof) revolves around just that: aesthetics. Sounds trivial and unimportant to me.

The same can be said of just about every clique (well, maybe not the dead animals part, which, by the way, isn't true for most). The definition for any clique varies for location to location for every group. The jocks of my second high school were also the intellectuals. Wasn't the same at my first high school. I guess you would have called me "emo" freshman and sophmore year, given my ability to cry at the drop of a hat and write poetry. Junior and senior year I was a geek/jock. Crying just meant I was sensitive. Poetry meant I really needed extra credit in Literature. You see? You can't blame the goths for having no homogeny. No one has homogeny. You have to take things by a case by case basis.

what happened to not letting yourself be defined by a genre of music?

what happened to being eclectic and having a taste for a wide variety of fashion/music styles?

getting too deep into any one music scene and letting it dictate the kind of person i am is just not appealing at all

anyways, goth is just not where it's at and hasn't been for years...since marilyn manson was on TRL and lead 13 year olds to flee to hot topic in mass numbers

nowadays even people like Skinny Puppy are making poppy dance music that sounds like fuckin Fatboy Slim

Awww...I am so going to get killed for this later but...blah...whatever.
I think the emo culture/music/style/etc. is amazing. I mean it's not just about a bunch of whiny kids cutting themselves in a corner, or being depressed all the time. I think it is more about how all these people can relate to each others feelings maybe? Like they can lean on someone else 'cause they know what you've been through. And I'm not saying everyone should love emo kids, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. It just gets a little depressing the way people think we are all going to eventually kill ourselves and cry so hard we flood the continents.

Now in making such an opinionated statement
