yeah, Green Day is a guilty pleasure. Their old stuff is better, but I'm still a fan.

wouldn't say they are great. They tend to be highly unoriginal and formulaic, but that isn't always such a bad thing.

this speaks true to me. i really enjoy dookie/insomniac... even through american idiot. i agree that their music is fairly basic and quite unoriginal, with easy solos that tend to mirror vocal lines and repetition repetition repetition.

but whenever i listen to them, that's not necessarily what i'm listening for. i listen to them because they bring me a happy nostalgia from my middle school/high school years. they are feel good songs that i can rock out to and sing along to :)

i don't know if that speaks loads about my personality or whatever, but it's true
