Does anyone love Modest Mouse and Ugly Casanova as much as me? I own it all except 1 cd. Just about everything I relate to. Anyone else out there?!!?!?!
Not quite what he once was, but still a damn good songwriter. No One's First has somewhat renewed my faith in Modest Mouse after We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank sort of made me think they were going to start putting out bad albums.
i actually like we were dead before.... not as much as moon and antarctica and lonesome crowded west. i can't stand no one's first. i thought the flow of the lyrics didn't suit the songs well. i like half that album. what about ugly casanova?
I never really got into Ugly Casanova, honestly. I heard Sharpen Your Teeth once or twice maybe two or three years ago, but something about it never clicked to the point that I decided to listen to it more often or anything like that. I might revisit it sometime, it's just never really been at the forefront of what I've felt like listening to.
it's not the best. there's some really good songs and some songs i don't even bother with. it's like modest mouse's first 1-3 cds i don't care for em much but i own them just to own them. modest mouse reached me at a bad point in my life. fuck i'm still at that point after 2 years.
i'd have to say i really just like modest mouse because of lonesome crowded west and moon and antarctica. good news had a few. but teeth like god's shoeshine and styrofoam boots, etc just killer man. reminds me of a drug frenzied panic attack followed with a huge high that you have to sit down for and rethink life because you realized there is no god, you can do whatever you want and face no consequence if you do it right, and etc.
prove it. look up all their info, lyrics, and reasons behind their songs and tell me they aren't amazing. they talk about heroin, hookers, mafia, eastern religion, how dumb americans are, getting fucked up, all behind a jazzy image. you have no idea what the dan is
favorite dan lyric ::learn to work the saxophone, and i'll play whatever i feel. drink scotch whiskey all night long and die behind the wheel. they got a name for all the winners in the world. i want a name when i lose. they call alabama the crimson tide. call me deacon blues::
hmm fair enough. emoticons are funny. and half the time i'm drunk. fuck you. i do what i want. neither one of you are hot so it's not like i'm going to miss on our friendship
no i'm just kidding guys. i just want to be accepted. i just have a rash way of showing it. i'm sure i sit and find things about you 2 i find annoying and bad too. but i don't. it's not like you've ever really given a nigga a chance anyway. i'm really not that bad.

If I remember correctly, the entymology of "Steely Dan" is a bit out there...
"Being fans of Beat Generation literature, Fagen and Becker named the band after "Steely Dan III from Yokohama," a strap-on dildo referred to in the William Burroughs novel The Naked Lunch." - wikipedia

I like entomology as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure what it has to do with Steely Dan.

For whatever reason, Long Drive is still my favorite. Just the one that stuck the hardest, I guess.

etymology was what I meant to type, referring to the origin of the term. That makes moderately more sense than anything about insects.

Haha, I figured. I wish more bands referred to entomology. :(
Isaac Brock raising awareness for CCD? Totally down.
