i used to love Silverstein, not gonna lie. when their first cd came out
and ive got to say it, but Fall Out Boy. back in the day i loved them. and i still give them props for doing whatever the fuck they want musically and getting away with it. but fuck, they totally got caught up in the emo hype machine. ah well
I will list bands whose fans I don't get, because they do not make sense by comparison
of what the band is / sounds like.
Hot Cross: for some reason this was the band that people consistently misinterpreted as
being "screamo", for whatever god damn reason.
Minus the Bear: it seems like this is either every 18 year old kid's get away from bad music
to like, indie rock. vice versa, it is a lot of 16 year old kid's "mild" band that they love. I swear
I was at a Minus the Bear show and saw ninja kicks and moody swept hair more than dressed
down, mild mannered fans like myself.
Against Me!: yeah, I get it, fans like me should hate the new stuff, but I kind of dig it. I don't like
the snot nose kids it's bringing with it though.
I used to dig Emery.
Now, dnw. Even though, I'm going to go see them in August...
But, with Maylene and the Sons of Disaster.
(Fuck you guys, Maylene rules.)

Sure. How does "Preteen Hot Topic-core" work?
Or any other terms people suggest. Because I agree, we shouldn't dump on the old, actual emo scene when it has absolutely nothing to do with this present wave of manufactured audio sewage.
Bright Eyes, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Fall Out Boy (sue me, I still spin their first two albums from time to time), My Chemical Romance (still like the first album, don't like Three Cheers, Black Parade is a bit of a guilty pleasure from time to time).
Jimmy Eat World are still legit, I'm seconding that.
also: screamo bullshit ruined thrice for me. first 2 albums "Identity Crisis" and The Illusion of Safety" were great, "artist in the ambulance" sucked because of way to much mallxcore influence and "vheissu" was horrible, but they've kinda gotten back on track with "The Alchemy Index".
They started ruining Cryptopsy after their last album "The Unspoken King". This band went from being one of the most technical and brutal grind/death bands to come out of Canada to complete gaycore in one album.
when i was fifteen, i learned to play bass to this album. Patrick Stump wrote the whole album and sang all lead vocals. they also had a different drummer. it's basically two different bands.
i was also super into Alexisonfire and City and Colour at the time. the new Dallas Green albums suck so fucking hard.
