Man, I've been wanting to see them live so badly. I just missed them in Michigan because it was like a day before I moved so I 1) didn't have any money and 2) no time due to packing constraints.
I ignored them for so long thinking they were just another new lame punk sounding band.
Then curiosity finally got the better of them and I checked em out and was completely blown away and never happier to have been wrong about an original impression I had about something. I've had The '59 Sound in my car for something like 6 months. Plus, their tune "Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts" is effin' great.

I just missed them in Michigan as well. Needless to say, I'm pretty pissed about it. Reason I missed: friend bailed at the last second, so I was stranded with no ride.
I listened to Sink or Swim for like 3 weeks straight. Sweet Jesus. My English teacher knows them personally and always goes to see them when they're in the town. Jersey pride. On a little bit more negative note, some of their lyrics are a little too working class blues punkish for me sometimes.
Five years ago you would have been lynched if you talked to punx about Bruce Springstein, now it's okay because of the Gaslight Anthem
I want a band to start endorsing Barry Manilow

Not true... I remember talking to Wes about Bruce back in 2003 and long before that as well.
My Dad had his "greatest hits" album and it's right up there with some other major influential music in my life, for example, the beach boys, the beatles, billy joel, etc. I specifically remember when CD players came on the market and my dad bought one... but he had Bruce on LP... I should get that shit from him.
