jane doe was like an atomic bomb dropped into the alternative music scene. one of the best albums of all time if you ask me.

what pisses me off though, is that they became popular in the emohipster scene, when these kids were searching for the most extreme band they could find. they found converge. sadly.

I like Converge because they're amazing live (I get pissed off when bands are shit live), they relate to their audience, they don't sound like everyone else, and their songs are each ABOUT something instead of just being piles of generic lyrics about love and broken hearts.

I didn't know there were that many people that liked them, though... I've tried to talk to people about them and they always give me the blank stare and say "never heard of them", but they don't know who the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are, either... fucking Idaho.

And we won't be breathing in that same sun again. None of this will ever surface again. How we get older, how we forget about eachother. And the angel falls to the sky. Raised and coiled she blessed this day she did. And it rings our ears. She rarely flies anymore, burden broke her wings. And I know this ghost, I have seen it before. Young it is the dying too fast, too soon, I'll be okay. The air thins in the quick and our lips move but we hear no sound. Every time you justify, another good in you dies. Faith and fear sears me, and love and you pull all the right strings. "How we get older, how we forget about eachother," she said. Entwined within the sadder of days.

Yeah but you're from Austin. I'm from Ketchum. People here think Guns N Roses is a new band.

I actually just moved from Michigan. Although, Michigan has a pretty booming post-hardcore scene so I guess that explains it too

If you ask me, Converge are an alright band that happened to make one good album

I like Jane Doe, but it's not really the end-all or great milestone of the genre that people make it out to be

if you ask me, the album that really broke that scene wide open and gave way to things like Jane Doe was this one-

i don't like dillinger escape plan nor converge. It's not typically my type of music, even though I love metal and random stuff. I find this much more appealing, along with Fiords picture with a female who i'd like to see much more of(the female of course,)

I'm aware that Converge/Botch came first, I worded that post badly

I meant that more in the sense that DEP popularized the whole mathcore thing a lot more than the other two, and be it a good thing or a bad one, caused the boom of success that bands in that genres have had since the late 90's, not so much that they were the first band to do what they did

It's sorta like how Metallica weren't the first thrash band, but they're the reason it got so fucking popular

But Mastodon got really Pink Floyd-y on their latest one, so that makes matters even more confusing.

For the record, I can't fucking stand Pig Destroyer, but I love Agoraphobic Nosebleed. My musical tastes don't make a whole fucking lot of sense sometimes.

converge was really great for what they did during the era of jane doe.

now they're tired, old, and out of good ideas, and not really relevant any more.

I meant Pink Floyd within Mastodon.

That's like saying you hear Celine Dion in Opeth.

Possibly from the fact that they stated they were actively attempting to write the closest thing to a metal Pink Floyd album.

It still fucking sucked either way.
