jane doe was like an atomic bomb dropped into the alternative music scene. one of the best albums of all time if you ask me.
what pisses me off though, is that they became popular in the emohipster scene, when these kids were searching for the most extreme band they could find. they found converge. sadly.
what makes Converge amazing?
no matter how I try, I cannot like them beyond "meh."

It's a little too abrasive for me
I like Converge because they're amazing live (I get pissed off when bands are shit live), they relate to their audience, they don't sound like everyone else, and their songs are each ABOUT something instead of just being piles of generic lyrics about love and broken hearts.
I didn't know there were that many people that liked them, though... I've tried to talk to people about them and they always give me the blank stare and say "never heard of them", but they don't know who the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are, either... fucking Idaho.
And we won't be breathing in that same sun again. None of this will ever surface again. How we get older, how we forget about eachother. And the angel falls to the sky. Raised and coiled she blessed this day she did. And it rings our ears. She rarely flies anymore, burden broke her wings. And I know this ghost, I have seen it before. Young it is the dying too fast, too soon, I'll be okay. The air thins in the quick and our lips move but we hear no sound. Every time you justify, another good in you dies. Faith and fear sears me, and love and you pull all the right strings. "How we get older, how we forget about eachother," she said. Entwined within the sadder of days.
you can buy converge shirts at Hot Topic. nuff said?
along with a bunch of good bands that never should be even mentioned in a store like Hot Topic.
I even found a Del the Funky Homosapien shirt in there.

...are you serious? that fucking sucks, i own every shirt converge has ever put out; in fact, 90% of the pictures i've posted on this website have been me in converge shirts
i don't like dillinger escape plan nor converge. It's not typically my type of music, even though I love metal and random stuff. I find this much more appealing, along with Fiords picture with a female who i'd like to see much more of(the female of course,)

2001 was a great year for me musically speaking.
DKM and Lightning Bolt concerts
LOC putting out Mediocre Generica
I gotta go out and buy Jane Doe now.
when forever comes crashing snapped me out of my shitty scene faze in high school. it pissed me off to hear every metalcore trick being done 7 years earlier and 10x better.
15storyfall, converge (and botch) most certainly paved the way for dep
I'm aware that Converge/Botch came first, I worded that post badly
I meant that more in the sense that DEP popularized the whole mathcore thing a lot more than the other two, and be it a good thing or a bad one, caused the boom of success that bands in that genres have had since the late 90's, not so much that they were the first band to do what they did
It's sorta like how Metallica weren't the first thrash band, but they're the reason it got so fucking popular
But Mastodon got really Pink Floyd-y on their latest one, so that makes matters even more confusing.
For the record, I can't fucking stand Pig Destroyer, but I love Agoraphobic Nosebleed. My musical tastes don't make a whole fucking lot of sense sometimes.

i really really like converge, but after jane doe everything they did started to sound the same. when they release a new album, ill still listen to it, and ill still enjoy it, but its not something ill get hooked on
I've only heard Forever Came Crashing... and Petitioning the empty sky. a friend of mine bought me the double LP remaster or something... I listen to it all the fucking time.

Where the fuck did you pick up Pink Floyd from?
Possibly from the fact that they stated they were actively attempting to write the closest thing to a metal Pink Floyd album.
