I was just eating lunch and 10 cop cars showed up over a stolen cadillac in the parking lot. they came in and arrested one guy, but didn't notice his buddy was there too, so when they took the one outside I offered the remaining dude a ride out of there, but as we were getting into my car they pulled him out and arrested them. as a white person, I was about suspicion and given a stern warning about giving strangers rides.
In general, I would say it would be a nice deed but considering the circumstances, I wouldn't have offered him a ride. For all you know, he could have raped you
cops: "where are you going?"
you: "I'd been looking for a way to start my career as a getaway driver. the economy you know..."
how exactly does getting caught trying to help a suspect escape work?
It's hard to tell, you could've saved your ass from future trouble by getting on the guy's good side. Or, you could've just painted yourself a big red target for their next victim.
Criminals are like anyone else, some have honor, some are just shitheads. Either way, if it's the latter I'm glad we have concealed-carry in this state.
I'm pretty sure it was a racial profiling type of thing. for whatever reason they didn't believe a 6-7, 250lb black guy with a diamond studded grill was my relation. I'm surprised we made it as far as my car.
