I transfered after first semester freshman year. My only advice would be to make sure the schools you are considering transferring to have the programs you are interested in and also any extra curriculars you want to participate in as well. Location can be huge too. I started at a school in a very rural area, I enjoyed the self contained campus idea but wanted to also be in a city so that helped focus where I was looking.

I transferred twice. Third time was a charm. How cliche.

What year are you in? How far away from home are you?

The first year is difficult no matter where you end up. People rarely get it right the first time. I mean, you're 18 and fresh out of high school and someone tells you that you can go to college wherever you want. Hell yes! Party time! I took a year off after my second year- I had some personal stuff going on back at home and I was 5 hours away from everything I had ever known. At first it was lonely being the only one of my friends not in school, but taking time off to re-evaluate myself was the best choice I ever made. I then decided to stay close to home and after another failed attempt at commuting to a school I tried once more. It was nothing I had ever expected to like or want in a college, but it was what I needed.

I started in a city school with 30,000 kids and ended at a semi-religious school with less than 8,000. Sometimes you just don't know what you need and it's easier to figure out the things in your life you know you DON'T need.

Good luck. I wish you all the best. I know how stressful it can be, but just remember, if you don't like the next one... you can transfer again!

Creighton, oh Jesus Christ, why?

Dude, come on down here to Loyola, it's a way better town with better weather and since you're already at a jesuit school they'd hook you up with a good transfer scholarship.

East Carolina University. I'm currently a freshman here, it's SICK. I don't know what you're into, but if you're into having a good time and love to be a fuckin' PIRATE, ECU's for you. We're reknowned for being a party school, and we definitely live up to it... we had 10,000 people come to tiny little Greenville for Halloween by it's self. ECU is where it's at.

And besides, you can't spell parties without Pirates ;]
