Introduction

Hi. My name is Sarah. I don't think I'm gonna really talk about my age, what I look like, etc. What I am going to talk about in this introduction is what I do and why I do it.

I write. I think of all the things I like to do, that is the thing that most defines me. I write, mostly poetry; sometimes short stories. My stories don't usually work out well because I get impatient. I've been writing for about three years so far, and it is part of what keeps me sane. So yeah, big part of me.

I listen to music. A lot. I listen to rock, r&b, techno, rap, alternative, trance, trip hop, soul, spoken word, folk, tiiiiny bit of country, jazz, musicals, and basically everything else under the sun. There are songs and musical artists that I don't like, but if somebody says they are good, I will give them a try. I do not believe in judging music, partly because as somebody who tries to create beautiful things out of my heart, I know what it is to be judged on something that is so completely personal. You can't do it if you haven't been there and if you haven't been inside that person's mind. Oh, and one of my favorite things to do is to discover new music. It becomes an adventure. So if you know of a good band or musical artist that isn't on my list, then come and tell me. I will be grateful.

I read. I've been reading since I was in kindergarten, and loved just about every minute of it. I was never what you would call a popular kid, so when I was ignored I would just read. I still love it, and do it when I probably shouldn't be. I get my large vocabulary from it, and my witty retorts [Jane Austin was my favorite for those]. I've read a good amount, but am always glad for more. So if you know of any that aren't there, tell me. I may have already read your suggestion and just not put it up there, because let me tell you, 10 years of books read are hard to remember.
I teach. I teach in a free summer arts program in the inner city for two weeks in the summer with my church, and I teach Sunday School every other Sunday in my church. I have realized through experience, that I would probably be better served by working with older kids. I have almost no patience. But I love teaching. I'm not sure why; kids usually don't like me and usually I feel like I'm not doing anything very productive, but I love it. Makes me feel like maybe I'm meant for something besides failure.

I am a follower of Christ. I don't put labels on my faith; because well....I do not agree completely with Christians or Catholics or any other denomination. I believe in some parts of these religions and some parts of others. My faith is a mishmash. I may talk about my faith, but not very often. I don't show it off, and I don't try to convert others. Your faith is your faith, and unless you ask me about it or something like that, I won't force it on you.

I love people. Most people are a joy to know. I think you are like that. I mean, seriously, if you lasted through this blog without falling asleep, then you MUST be amazing. ;]
